24 January 2023

The Union Minister for Women, Youth and Children Affairs made a visit to the Karenni region to coordinate with local organisations, representatives, and civil society organisations for regional development.

She embarked on this visit to listen to the voice of local people who fled from war and support them in person. The trip also aimed to implement the following three main objectives of the Ministry more effectively.

  • To protect women, young people, and children from human rights violations, and to ensure their enjoyment of human rights throughout this period of transition.
  • To provide for the safety, basic needs and survival of women, young people, and children.
  • To promote women, young people, and children’s meaningful participation in the building of a federal democratic nation.

The Minister has met with local CSOs, political organisations and Public Administration teams. She also met with local communities in the IDP camp.

The Ministry has been working hard to strengthen the collective leadership of the regions [across the country] and revolutionary norms through cooperation with local organisations in civil service matters.

The Ministry of Women, Youth and Children Affairs thanked everyone who organised the visit and paid tribute to individuals, organisations and colleagues on the ground working selflessly for the people.
